Your Book Needs to be Born

These three things are required …

I believe that you have a book in you—a story that needs to be told.

It may have been standing in the corner, waiting, for years. You glance at it from time to time, thinking “Not now. I don’t have time for this.”

Or, “I don’t have time for YOU.” Or, “Who do I think I am? Nobody cares about this stuff.”

But I do. I care about your words. And I am interested specifically in helping you with what I’m calling it “Impact Writing.” Because well chosen, well trimmed, well curated, and most of all, well released words can change generations. Most importantly, they can change you.

Books only need three things to be born.

You. Courage. And Time. And you already have two of the three ingredients.

What is probably lacking is the middle ingredient—Courage.

Courage itself is made up of three things.

Clarity.

Confidence.

And…wait for it..

Coaching.

I can help you with all three of those things. Because I have done it. I know how to take an idea and then turn it into a living breathing thing. My books have sold over two million copies, been translated into twelve languages, and continue to sell now going on than twenty seven years. One publisher who did not win the bid for my first book told me to my face “You are going to be a one hit wonder.” I was so tickled when two years later I had not one but two books on the BusinessWeek Best Seller List at the same time, the first author ever to achieve that distinction. I know how to overcome the naysayers. I persisted. You can too.

I also know how to see the potential orchards within a single apple, turning not one but three of my best selling books into systems that continue to this day. I wrote, sold, and negotiated contracts with major publishers to produce a book every two years for decades. Non fiction. Poetry books. Gift books for Graduates. Journals for Life Coaches. There was no time to dilly dally. Fast can be good.

Because I owned an ad agency for fifteen years prior to becoming a full time author, I had to use, choose, and print words that sell and make an impact in the ever changing marketplace. If my words didn’t work, my clients lost money. So I learned how to turn a phrase. Phrases that stand up and stand out and make people notice and pay attention. That is a skill set that can be learned.

But not without practice. And not without a guide.

I want to help you save time. And energy. I want you to get to it, and get it done.

For the last two years I have taken a sabbatical—just sitting back and enjoying the fruits of my labor. I also secured my grooming license for race horses in New Mexico, but that is another story.

Recently I was talking with a friend who had been to two writing workshops, and was well on her way. But she was stumped in the middle of the work—which way to go next? Over tea I suggested that she do one simple thing. It turned out to have a major impact on her process. Words I simply pulled out of my sleeve led to a breakthrough structural change for her, one that let her words flow, rather than be dissected from within her like a surgeon removing an appendix. I was so delighted at the burst of insight that came from me to her that I have decided to try it with more people.

For the first time ever I want to take a hand full of people, one weekend at a time, and help them—help you—get clear about your own power to write with impact.
