My gate is a Wisteria Branch
She bends and waves to greet me.
She kisses me gently with her newest tendril,
Always reaching out. Always reaching up…
Seeking something solid
to wrap her arms around
as she makes her way
towards the sun.
She will find it, one way or another.
And then her flowers will hang down
Like solemn, ponderous purple bells,
each open blossom
kissing and teasing
dancing bees
too numerous
To count.
I like Wisteria as my gate,
rather than one with lock and key.
She reminds me
to stay open.
To keep growing
even in the dark,
Knowing…
hoping
that
someday
somebody will pass by
And reach out
with a hello touch,
and then still themselves
With bended ear
To hear the silent bells
of her purple/white
heavenly
descent.
