He Breathed on Them
He gave them a new breath of spirit that is Holy, and they were never the same.
Dear Friends and Followers,
In reading the Gospels again last night I was struck by the passage when Jesus met with the apostles for the last time. They had gathered in the Upper Room, and were overjoyed to see him. After speaking with them for a few moments, it says
“He breathed on them” (John 20:22).
He did not brand them.
He did not hand them maps, or whips, or chains, or even time cards.
He gave them a new breath of spirit that is Holy, and they were never the same.
We begin to build here and now with the talents we have been given, working on a foundation that will endure into eternity.
We live now in unusual times. We have tools at our disposal that allow us to work with anyone in the world, anywhere in the world, twenty-four hours a day.
We are amassing wealth and information at speeds never before thought possible.
Yet are we increasing in wisdom?
Are we experiencing the peace Jesus spoke about “that passes understanding?”
And perhaps most important of all, how are we treating “the least of these my brethren?
Peace and Wisdom be yours this second week of Advent.
