Greetings, Friends.

I have taken an extended sabbatical the past several months, filling my calendar with action items similar to that of a six year old child’s calendar I recently saw. Her rather intense mother had asked her to plan her week, so she did. Her calendar read: Monday, Wednesday, Friday. “Play. Play. Play.” And under Thursday, Saturday, Sunday she wrote “Something, Something, Something.” This child is a Wind in the making. And, so am I.

I decided to share this photo with you as my beginning offering of a new series I am starting called Grow Something Besides Old. I find myself a bit weary of writing words words words when there is so much visual delight in the world. Photography has long been an avid past time of mine, so I thought I would share with you some photos that have become my favorites.

Here is a Found Moment of a picture I snapped at a recent San Diego Art Museum special exhibit of Georgia O’Keefe and Henry Moore’s work. Both of them were fascinated by natural forms, and the exhibit took my breath away. I had started walking away when I turned for one last glance at this particular section, and couldn’t believe my eyes. Photography was allowed in this exhibit so I grabbed my camera and snapped it.

I’m calling it “As Within, Without.” How many swirls do you see here?

I hope you enjoy it, and I look forward to sharing more photos and Found Moments with you in the days and weeks to come. And PS. I never stage or alter my photos. Just like my carrots, I like ‘em raw.

In closing, I am reminded of another six year old who came running down the stairs after a nap. Our family had gathered in the living room and she had gotten a bit fussy, which turned into a tantrum, so her father took her upstairs and told her to take a nap. Thirty minutes later she came bounding down the stairs, jumped into her father’s lap, turned and announced with a flourish “Good news, Everybody! I found my Second Wind!”
